Ingredients Needed to Make Homemade Dog Toothpaste

What goes into toothpaste for dogs? Let’s take a look at the core ingredients you will need before you embark upon this self-sufficient adventure.

There are many different recipes to make homemade toothpaste for dogs, but for the below, we will look at creating a chicken stock based paste.

Why?

Because not all dogs are going to love having their teeth cleaned and a chicken scented toothpaste will help introduce the brushing process, making it a great choice for novice and experience doggy owners.

  • One tablespoon unsalted chicken stock (just the stock no added ingredients)
  • One spoonful of aromatic herbs. Mint is a good choice
  • One-half tablespoon of baking soda
  • One-half tablespoon of vegetable oil

Mixing Doggy Toothpaste is Very Simple

With all of your ingredients lined up, all you need to do is combine them into a single container and mix until you have formed a paste. This can be applied directly to the dog’s brush and used the same way we brush our own teeth.

If you want to change things up a little, then you can look to use a bit of cinnamon in the mix instead of mint. Cinnamon will freshen your dog’s breath but add an extra level of infection protection.

You do not need to brush your dog’s teeth every day. Two or three times a week is all you need. You also do not need to worry about rinsing your dog’s mouth they will swallow your homemade dog toothpaste, and that’s fine.
